Fuel or Chemical Spill Emergency (24/7)

All Skeerpoort Verspreiders and SV Aviation vehicles are covered by a SpillTech emergency response plan.

Chemical Spill Response

When working with liquid fuels and chemicals, spills can occur despite the best preventative measures. Prompt reporting and appropriate response are essential to protect people, property, and the environment.

Prevention First

The best spill is the one that never happens. We are committed to maintaining our vehicles, equipment, and operating procedures to minimise environmental risks and ensure safe transportation practices.

Understanding Spill Severity

The type, quantity, and location of a spill determine whether it is classified as a minor or major incident.

Minor Spills

Minor spills typically involve smaller quantities of fuel or chemicals that can be safely contained and cleaned up by trained personnel using appropriate spill response equipment.

While considered manageable, minor spills still present risks to people, property, and the environment and should be reported immediately.

Major Spills

Major spills involve large quantities of hazardous materials and require immediate intervention by specialised emergency response teams.

For example, a tanker rollover releasing thousands of litres of fuel or industrial chemicals would be considered a major spill. These incidents can pose significant environmental and public safety risks and require coordinated emergency response efforts.
